BENJAMIN FRANKLIN HAYNES was born July 5, 1852 near Mt. Pleasant, Saline Township, in Miller County. He was a son of Martin Haynes (1818-1897) and Margaret Hinds (1822-1886) who are both buried at Old Salem Cemetery north of Eldon. Martin was born in Monticello, Kentucky in 1818 (son of William Haynes & Elizabeth Corder) and Margaret was born in Wayne Co., Kentucky in 1822 (daughter of Benjamin Hinds & Nancy Fox).
Benjamin was one of nine children born to Martin and Margaret including:

Benjamin F. Haynes married Hannah J. Davidson in Miller County on Dec. 1, 1870. She was born in England on 1 Feb 1852. I do not know when her family came to America. Benjamin and Hannah Haynes were parents of six children:

Benjamin was a farmer in northern Saline Township and he also had mercantile stores in Olean, Eldon, and Tuscumbia. Two of his sons, Walter and Frank, and a son-in-law, James W. McFarland, helped him operate his places of business. He and Hannah were members of the Christian Church at Old Salem Church . Hannah died July 29, 1905 and was buried at Old Salem Cemetery. Benjamin Franklin lived until Aug. 7, 1936 when he died at the age of 84 years. His services were held at the Christian Church by Rev. A. L. Alexander and Rev. Edmond Wilkes (who had been a pastor of the old church in 1894). He was placed beside Hannah at Salem Cemetery and at his death was survived by 4 children, 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 2 sisters (Nancy Haynes Snow and Rebecca Jane Bell, both of Eldon).
