On an old map of Miller County, dated 1904, I found the following places listed on the map:

POST OFFICES (South of the Osage)

OTHER SETTLEMENTS AND POST OFFICES IN EXISTENCE AT THE TURN OF THE 20th CENTURY SOUTH OF THE RIVER WERE:​

Sudheimer, Caenby, Highland Park, White House, Watkins, Alberta, Bentown, and perhaps others that I do not recall in research.
​​​​​​​​THERE WERE SOME SETTLEMENTS AND POST OFFICES IN EXISTENCE AT THIS TIME ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE OSAGE RIVER, BUT THEY WERE NOT LISTED ON THE OLD MAP INCLUDING: ​

Gageville, Adelaide, Vernon Springs, Flatwoods, Kaiser.

Also shown on the old map were the two railroads that had been built and crossed the northern section of the county... The Missouri Pacific line entered the county on the north and ran into Olean where a small depot was built. It came from Cole County via Lohman and Russellville and ran southward to Eldon. The Missouri Pacific was first called the Jeff. City, Lebanon and Southwest Railroad. From the east, the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific railway entered the county on the northeast and crossed the river at Old Hoecker/Brouse’s Bend where a railroad bridge was built spanning the mighty Osage.​ Both railroads met in Eldon and a spur was built by the MO. Pacific line to Old Bagnell, located on the Osage River where it was the hub of much activity for railroad ties, lumber, etc. Eldon also had 2 train depots---The Missouri Pacific depot was built at the corner of 2nd St. and Maple while the Chicago , Rock Island & Pacific depot was located a few blocks away at 6th St. & Maple……….
