Note from Kelly:
Peggy did indeed "get involved" to solve this mystery of a possible presidential lineage and discovered she was definitely indirectly descended from the 5th President of the United States! Peggy's ancestral grandfather, Robert Monroe, was an uncle to President James Monroe.
I furthered Peggy's research before she passed away and was delighted to report to her what I had found. Here is the lineage:
Chesley Nelson Wyrick was the son of John Wyrick (1785-1851) and Margaret Monroe (1796-1834); Margaret Monroe was the daughter of Robert Monroe (c/1730-1826) and Roseannah Puckett (?-?).
Robert and Pres. James Monroe's father (Spencer Monroe: 1727-1774) were the sons of Andrew Monroe (1697-1733) and Christina Tyler (1690-1754).
The Monroe lineage in Peggy's pedigree extends back to David Monroe (1590-1648) who was born in Scotland and brought the Monroe Clan to the New World in the mid-1600's.
Trying to determine who the identity of some of my Wyrick kinfolks can turn into a real headache ! ! !
I am a descendant of Chesley Nelson Wyrick and Lucinda (Wyrick) whom I believe were cousins… I know for a certainty that Lucinda was a daughter of Michael Richard Wyrick and his wife, Lucinda Jones, who married in Grainger County, Tennessee in the early 19th century. They came to Miller County with other Wyrick families in the 1840s.
I have tried to find documented proof that Lucinda’s husband, Chesley Nelson Wyrick, was a son of John Wyrick and Martha Monroe, who married in Grainger County, TN on August 7, 1810. A friend, Kenny Shelton, of Nevada, MO. has also worked on this Wyrick lineage with me and the two of us came to the unproven conclusion that the children of John and Martha (Monroe) Wyrick were six sons including:

1. Jefferson Wyrick 1811-1890 –died in Union Co., TN
2. Othaniel Wyrick 1813-1881 m. Margaret Hannah Trent 1832 [in Grainger Co., TN—she died before the census of 1870. Othaniel died in Nov. 1881 at Seligman, Barry Co. , MO at the home of his son, Lafayette.]
3. Nathaniel Tanner Wyrick 1818-1900 m. Elizabeth Lively Hicks in Miller Co. 1845
4. Robert Monroe Wyrick 1824-1878 m. Mahala Lenna Wyrick 1844 Miller Co., MO [d/o Michael Richard & Lucinda (Jones) Wyrick]
5. Christopher Columbus Wyrick 1828-1863--[died in the Civil War and buried in the National Cemetery at Springfield , MO.] m. Lodusta Lavernia Wyrick—[d/o Michael & Lucinda Wyrick; she married #2—Andrew Wyrick, s/o James & Martha (Connell) Wyrick; m. #3—Jesse Gumm-her brother-in-law who had first married her sister, Thursa Wyrick.]
6. Chesley Nelson Wyrick 1829-1912 m. Lucinda Wyrick [d/o Richard Michael & Lucinda (Jones) Wyrick.]
It about blew my mind to smithreens when I started deciphering all these Wyrick marriages to one another. The best that Jim Shelton and I can determine, there were seven different marriages between these Tennessee cousins !!!!!!!
If Othaniel and Chesley Nelson were brothers and sons of John Wyrick and Margaret Monroe, then my ancestral heritage can be traced back to James Monroe, America’s 5th President. But that is a whole new ballgame and I’m not getting involved in that storyline until at a later date !!!!!!
