On May 8, nineteen and fifty-two,
we started to St. Louis though the weather was blue.
We started about six a.m.,
but when we got there our eyes were dim.
We went to the zoo and stayed till noon,
but some thought we left too soon.
Because they needed longer to visit their kin,
but if they stayed longer they may have stayed in.
From there we went to Sportman's Park,
but we didn't get to see a game after dark.
They played the Giants in a good game,
and after we got there we were glad we came.
The game was good, though the Giants won,
but it would've been better if they had at least one run.
In the top of the 6th they had a chance,
for the Giants got into a trance.
About the 7th, it started to rain,
but they went ahead and finished the game.
The bases were loaded with only one out,
this was their chance to win without doubt.
But the next one up flied out in the center,
but they still had a chance to be the winner.
But the pitcher knew what it was all about,
so the next one up he struck out.
